The whole thing about Democrats searching for a winning message for the midterms is infuriating because it is staring them in the face: Rule of Law — People who do illegal shit should face consequences. For insider trading. For illegal wars. For ignoring court orders. For being a pedophile.
you notice this everywhere when you really start paying attention, and it’s totally infuriating
"But, but that would be BAD!" Sure would! That's why they should not nullify the Citizenship Clause I do not see much merit in the practice of pretending that bad events don't actually have the consequences that they do have. We seem very enamored of it, as a nation, though.
An underrated addendum to the Bowling Alone story is that North America's largest bowling operator (Bowlero) is a publicly traded company whose business model involves buying mom and pop alleys, shutting down the leagues, and trying to attract casual, higher paying, one-off players.
The Citizenship Clause is the foundation-stone of the whole thing. If you take that away, if you nullify it, then it isn't the same Constitution anymore, and the new version has no just claim upon anyone's allegiance or adherence
