This isn’t quite right. The Act of Settlement secured the tenure of judges on “Quam diu se bene Gesserint.” As long as they behave themselves well, or, essentially good behavior. That was a for-cause regime, but it wasn’t a lifetime appointment, and it mandated a role for Parliament in removal.
