Black-necked Stint in Peru back on this day in 2018. #wonderfulwaders #birdsoftheworld
This is why I’m bored with BlueSky - no less than 10 consecutive posts all reposting the same (valuable) article.
A narrative is recited almost everywhere: that Rachel Reeves is being "forced" to cut benefits, and is faced with "hard choices" or "no choice". This story, a staple of neoliberal doctrine, is completely false, as @richardjmurphy.bsky.social explains: www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/03...
Labour is choosing to push 50,000 *more* children into poverty — and it is utterly disgraceful.
The UK is supplying weapons to a country whose leader is wanted for war crimes. How much simpler can we put it?

Keir Starmer under fire from Labour MPs after byelection loss to Reform UK. Starmer was the only party leader not to visit Runcorn. Toxic? Busy purging the left, alienating traditional supporters. Must ditch Tory policies. Redistribute, end tax perks of the rich. Abandon disability benefit cuts
Welfare cuts for the poor/disabled were not in Labour's election manifesto. PM Keir Starmer said: “those with the broadest shoulders should bear the heavier burden”. Then hit the poorest. Biggest cuts since those imposed by Tories in July 2015. There is no economic/moral justification.
NatWest bank set for private ownership. Received £45.5bn govt bailout in 2008. Reverse socialism - Lame ducks bailed out but when profitable handed back to private sector. Why? They could form part of industrial strategy - lending to SMEs, investment in new industries.
Chance of catching bosses who don't pay minimum wage? UK has 36.9m workers and only 1,490 labour market inspectors. Employers can expect a visit about once every five hundred years. Govt pushing deregulation. Abusive practices won't be checked. Deregulation emboldens bad bosses.
