For example, Chris O' Dowd said in an interview last year that people should talk to Graham Linehan because his views were "not peripheral" and the obvious follow up is "WHAT VIEWS CHRIS?" Of course, before he said that he said he didn't want to get into the specific views.
This is what people mean when they say journalism is in the pits on trans rights. All they are looking for is a saleable quote. They don't actually want to challenge powerful people like Rowling or Graham Linehan.
When John Lithgow says JK Rowling's views have been "twisted and misrepresented" the obvious follow up question is "what exact views are you talking about, John?" But there's never any follow-up. And Lithgow's reasons for doing the job are ugly and self-serving and tarnish his reputation.
One of his reasons is "job security into his later years." Any journalist who doing journalism on this should follow up with, "but you're 80, and a multi-millionaire, why would your need for "job security" override the reasons trans people and advocates say you shouldn't have taken the job?"
Project Hail Mary is one of my favourite books of the last five years. The movie is great, but my favourite adaption is the audiobook. (Then again, The Martian is my favourite audiobook, so I would love it.) Highly recommended in all its forms.
Yeah they’re far worse than the media reports eyyoo Also John this is your agent we advise you to keep posting through it king
Why should any journalist let him away with that. He using his star power to lend credence to Graham Linehan's horrific transphobia, and yet he doesn't have his feet held to the fire over that?
