(My impression is that English support was explicitly left wing and American support was explicitly nationalist but that may or may not be accurate)
Academic question. Are there any studies/books on English support for Irish republicanism in the 70s-90s period? I'm thinking stuff like Troops Out, Red Action, left wing bookshops stocking AP/RN or the Starry Plough etc.
