Retro-loving sci-fi nerd with a soft spot for classic films, 20th-century art, and old-school arcade games. If it beeped, blooped, or required quarters in the 80s or 90s, I’m probably into it.

It'd be interesting to go order a sangria from Chuck E Cheese 🤣💜

Apparently in Total Recall (1990) the very end of the film was meant to be a clue as to the fate of the protagonist.
First the frame flooded with white light and then faded to black..
This was meant to be a visual representation of an electronic lobotomy.. 😯
I'm rewatching Total Recall in 4K with Dolby Atmos tonight and I think with my fixed layout the effects are better but the Atmos mix is mixed too quietly compared to the OG Dolby Stereo mix IMHO so it's still kinda disappointing..
Total Recall went through many drafts when it was being written and some of them were by David Cronenberg when he was attached to direct the movie. His contribution to the film that they kept from those drafts was the mutants which makes sense if you think about it.
Which is kinda a good thing because it fueled a lot of fandom discussion and speculation leaving it relatively ambiguous.
I feel like it's been overlooked all these years because nobody wants to believe it. Apparently there was going to be an additional scene that further reinforced it too but they ran out of money and ended up not filming it.
Both the early 80s and 2005 movie versions of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy have surround sound tracks so good that they almost sound like they were made to be listened to in immersive audio!
