This dust storm storm has been quite wild in MB today. Amazing view here:
An exciting time for the survey here!

It’s always fascinating to find whole valves of marine specimens in till - a relatively common occurrence in the HBL. I’m sure this Macoma calcarea has had quite the ride. Glaciers are often perceived as these ‘grinding’ machines, but on a soft substrate this is less true.
CANQUA in Montreal was a great meeting of Quaternary scientists working in Canada and abroad. It was great to be able to present results from my PhD and further discuss on-going studies in Manitoba, such as this poster based on work in southeastern Manitoba.

Thick exposures of Quaternary sediments in the Churchill River area record at least three glacial-interglacial cycles and provide valuable insights into past glacial dynamics and interglacial climates. A fun area to work in. doi.org/10.1139/cjes...

Today is the most dangerous severe weather setup I have seen in southern Manitoba in a long time. Storms could produce tornadoes, destructive winds, and very large hail. If thunderstorms approach, take shelter immediately. #mbstorm

A massive dust storm sweeps across Montana, North Dakota and southern Manitoba this evening. This stunning sunset via view GOES-19.
