People really, really refuse to understand that half of all children died in their pre-industrial utopia. They just, helplessly, died. Modern medicine, sanitation and regulation have saved literally billions from that fate.
This stuff actually, really, matters. People have become POWERFUL by ridiculing the gentle experiments of academic culture, the parts where people poke around with odd ideas, and say things that don't sound like common sense. Things that would often just fade away if they weren't condemned.
If only there were some way of knowing who started it...
And those powerful people take those "Haha, aren't they silly" digs, and plant them at the heart of a movement which is actually, literally, at this very moment, actively censoring what can be TAUGHT IN UNIVERSITIES.
