"authors aren't getting paid enough, especially for ebooks. clearly the problem is... libraries!" is completely unhinged and also morally fucked
Before he was our non-fiction editor, Karlo Yeager Rodríguez was in the first issue of STP back in 2022!
The very structure of his story "Vanishing" enmeshes you in the impossibilities faced by many people of colour in a west increasingly defined by brazenly racist immigration enforcement.
There's also a class of pundit or poster or whatever who seems to think that critics of Platner thought he was going to lose the primary, which no one reasonable has thought since before Mills dropped out. Crowing now when the general hasnt started yet seems premature.
Still pretending Platner is a working class progressive would be like me still thinking Tony Vitello could be a good major league manager.
Playing this at MSG 2 months after 9/11, incredible. Haunting.
Has anyone done this yet
And following it with a raucous "Summer Days" is hilarious.
The problem with Platner is that he might lose. The other problem with Platner is he might win.
America, 2026.
I'd prefer there to be no White House at all, but there's something to be said for a society or cultures maintenance of symbols, especially those meant to convey solemn responsibility, immune to changing whims and personal preference, resistant to commercialization.
