Grew up across the street from a grove of these and they were an absolute menace. My mom was constantly writing City Hall to trim them. One finally destroyed a house.
Also made a huge mess.
I hate eucalyptus trees. Wish we could snap our fingers and replace them all with Monterey cypress.
School teacher Lucy Evans and her documents digging single-handedly saved the parkland around San Francisquito Creek, but of course they still named it after the son of a railroad baron who died a half century earlier.
🙄😡
Respect to the Valkyries.
Calls leaned toward Lynx (WTF with the Salaun technical?) the Valks played great D on the road and it came down to the final shot.
Love this team.

Honored in today’s column to introduce new generations to “Baylands Lucy,” a Palo Alto elementary school teacher who led the drive to protect 1,940 acres of marshland.
Filled her home with legal documents and meeting minutes. Drove City Council members crazy.
Absolute legend.

Nesting swallows, snaking waterways, low-flying planes, great egrets and stringy, orange, parasitic plants. Baylands Nature Preserve has something for everyone.
Always love working on these stories with @peterhartlaub.bsky.social 🦆 @sfchronicle.com www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...

There's so much eucalyptus litter in Glen Park. During drought / fire danger I certainly wouldn't want to be near one of these things if someone was lightning one up 🚬 or the sky was lightning up ⚡
Teamsnap is such a grift, preying on parents who think their kids will go Division I.
I coach middle school girls basketball & pay a not inexpensive monthly fee and they won’t let me have RSVPs for my off-season clinic without paying more.
It’s the Coinstar of apps.
That photo is excellent. Is it from
the Chronicle? I can look for the hi resolution version in the archive …
