Yeah the Diamond/Pearl Elite Four level jump is insane and it doesn't get brought up nearly as much as the Johto level curve.
At one point I gave up on a Diamond Nuzlocke because the grind just to match level with Aaron was so bad, let alone trying to get close to Cynthia.

The year I got Pokemon Emerald for Christmas, I had put so much time into FireRed that getting a new Pokémon game to explore was a crazy concept, and I immediately dropped my interest in all of my other gifts to lock in on the game lol
