Despite well-documented evidence of the physical and psychological harm of tasers, there does not appear to be a presumption against taser use on vulnerable groups, including children.

Yesterday, An Garda Síochána announced the extension of the taser pilot to the end of the year, and expansion to Limerick. Statistics show that tasers have only been used 15 times during the pilot, raising serious questions about whether the introduction of tasers is warranted in Irish policing.
