2) ๐ฌWe show that EDS1 is degraded by autophagy during Pst infection - most likely in the mesophyll ๐ฑ๐ฆ
Our model: autophagy recycles EDS1 during infection. Without this turnover, EDS1 accumulates (explaining elevated SA in atg5?!) but EDS1-dependent HR fails. ๐๐ฅ
Ready to submit ๐ค
Don't forget to register for one of the biggest #PlantScience conferences ๐ฑ of the year!
Our lab has submitted 9 abstracts (incl. our MSc students)- the entire @theustunlab.bsky.social will be there.
Come meet us & learn how we study #proteostasis โป๏ธ & plantโmicrobe interactions.
See you there! ๐ฟ

Now online! Plant cell wall-plasma membrane attachments mediate stress resilience through cellulose synthase complexes and remorins
So proud to see this story finally out!๐ We added new data since our previous preprintโtransgenic barley plants with an engineered immune receptor that fights off two fungal pathogens at once. Short ๐งต and link to the original preprint thread on X๐

As seen on @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social: our story on how the dreaded late blight pathogen hijacks a helper NLR pathway is now out in its final form! ๐

So what happens if we remove all four copies of the NITRILASE receptor? Thanks to Anita (add) and Xi's effort, we now know that quad nit plants phenocopy the atg plants: they start undergoing cell death during viral infectionโ ๏ธ.

In plants, cell wall-plasma membrane attachments become evident upon severe water loss. These attachments depend on cellulose synthase complexes and remorins and mediate resilience under water stress.
Plants and animals respond to pathogen attack by mounting innate immune responses that require intracellular nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) proteins. These immune receptors detect pathog...
