What would it take to make that change? Time. Time, and/or a serious economic collapse in Israel.
Happy Juneteenth! It’s worth remembering today that forced, unpaid labor is still common in this country: 13th Amendment, etc. BUT ALSO: people in prison keep finding ways to resist, including through music, which I wrote about for @themarshallproject.org: www.themarshallproject.org/2026/06/14/f...
A 22-year-old just got a $30 million investment valuing his new futures exchange at $300 million.
He graduated Stanford, wrote for Thiel's Stanford Review, interned at Andreessen Horowitz.
His mom? Pro-crypto Sen. Gillibrand, D-NY.
Bipartisan capture in full bloom.

More evidence, from a large-scale study in China, that using AI hurts learning if it undermines mental effort. When homework time drops due to AI use, so do test scores.
Across studies, there is a clear theme: AI tutoring in support of classes is good, using AI to "help" with homework is bad.
States do often cooperate and persuade other states to change their behavior. When the US got Europe to bandwagon in Iraq, it was persuasion, soft power, shared values, and an awareness of the relative importance of the US - in defense, trade, etc etc, relative to Iraq. But it was a low ask.
The US can persuade Israel to do various things, and vice versa. Share defense tech. Hand over information. Give money. But asking Israel to stop bombing Lebanon is asking to stop a top priority. What higher purpose does the Netanyahu govt have? States aren't talked out of their top priorities.
It's possible, of course, that given Iran's influence on Hezb, that a mutual ceasefire in Lebanon could come to be. I personally doubt it. The Israeli state and public opinion, as far as I can tell, are not interested in peace, so it's not a concession the US can grant.
I can't reply or quote elias, I'm screenshotting not to dunk but to dialog. This is a valid observation, but what I expect it to show is a common misperception, which is that the US can control the actions of the government of Israel. No state is the puppet of any other state. It is not a thing.
