It deals with abuse, self harm and addiction, and people are horrible to each other and it all feels relentlessly grim. I didn't like the writing style either.
Yes, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I don't usually post negative things online but I had to respond to this. I thought it was just me who found it awful - it's reassuring to know that I am not alone.
