Tried to watch THE MAN WHO LOVED WOMEN. I haven't seen a lot of Blake Edwards movies but this is kind of what I imagined them all to be like: a womanizer who fucks everything that movies moaning on about how painful and noble it is to have women inexplicably falling all over him
I also rewatched THE GAME, a film that feels like David Fincher trying to stretch his wings a little bit after making SE7EN. A wonderfully paranoid film, putting Michael Douglas in his archetypal role as Put-Upon Corporate Guy, and one of the most "it's just a movie" movies I've ever seen
What does he do that's so irresistible and charming? Oh, nothing in particular really
Maybe the movie got more nuanced later on and I missed it, but I bailed because it was making my skin crawl

If you think about the events of this movie too hard, it falls the fuck apart. The ending is dramatically very fun but doesn't make a goddamn ounce of sense. You have to take the world on its own extremely generous dream logic or it'll just frustrate the shit out of you
