As I wrote in my newsletter this morning, on this date in 1964, the Senate voted 71-29 to shut off debate on the Civil Rights Act. It was truly bipartisan. 44 Democrats and 27 Republicans voted to force a final vote. You might recognize some of the names.
Jake Sherman on House FISA:
"Johnson considering moving a short-term FISA bill in the House
Johnson: some in WH are considering an EO to extend 702 "Presumably he has some executive authority, so we'll see."
Johnson: 'probably the sooner [Trump nominates a permanent DNI] the better for all this.'"
Bill Gates just arrived on the Hill for his closed door 'interview' with the House Oversight Committee about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein
As he walked in the door:
“I’m glad to be here voluntarily to testify”
www.cnn.com/2026/06/10/p...
"Plus, Thune .. isn’t Johnson, who always sides with Trump .. Thune can’t seem to come up with the affirmative answer that Trump wants. Most of the time, it’s on purpose. Thune is nothing if not direct..about how Trump should get out of the various logjams [Trump] often puts himself in"

Also today:
Inflation rose 4.2% last month
Hang on to your wallets, kids ..
