Jess Franco's 1977 production began life as "Greta, the Mad Butcher," but the distributor repackaged it as an Ilsa movie: The same star overenunciating the same "Nazi" accent, same gratuitous nudity and torture, same comeuppance.
I accept it as canon.
A masterclass in suspense from Reiner anchored by a tour de force from ankle bashing Bates. Gripping psycho shock classic with tension to spare. 1990.
