Here's Begonia ampla, a Trailing-Scandant type of species Begonia from Upper Guinea, Africa. Found at tree bases, climbs up into trees. Ovate, succulent green foliage. Blooms: white w/ red streaks. Origin: J. D. Hooker. Published: 1871. Likes high humidity: humid grow tent or greenhouse.🌱 #begonias
Here's cute Begonia speluncae, (the "Cave Begonia"), a little known Rhizomatous type of species Begonia from Borneo found on shaded vertical rock faces around cave mouths to 130 m & restricted to limestone. Petite rounded fresh green foliage. Blooms: white. Origin: Ridley. Published: 1906. #begonias

Let’s look at Lilium, one of my favorite genera. I love variations on the basic floral plan. Pollination is especially interesting (but not as well studied as you’d hope). Lilies offer nectar from the grooves on the tepals. 📷: L. ‘Baferrari’ with yellow nectar grooves. #Liliaceae #Botany 🌾🧪🌱
