He had the one month hot streak and has like 2 goals and 3 assists across the rest of the two seasons.
Since it ended he has 1 goal and 1 assist in 11.
Very happy we are steering clear.
My guess is RDZ is a bit like Conte in the sense he prefers generalist midfielders rather than specialist passers. He did sign Hojbjerg after all.
Ones that will follow automations to the letter. So we might just not look to get a passer.
I feel that is mental fwiw
From a resource allocaiton perspective the passer was more important and should have been the bulk of the spending.
Spurfectly Cromluent
3. His main skillset is off the ball with energy and intensity, which is why he is well suited to a Howe side.
4. His performance level fell off without Bruno next to him who did the central progression (secondary progresser would usually be trippier or hall depending on which one played)
5. I think he is a pretty similar to a pre injury bentancur.
6. He will need a passer next to him.
He was a guy for a relegation scrap.
In the way Johnson was sold since Bilbao just because he delivered the moment doesn’t make him the future.
I think signing him would be an utter disaster for a club with ambition to challenge higher up the table and keep the ball.
Hear me out
The prime aged Italian midfielder that fills the giant passing void is certainly not Tonali.
1. He would be our best midfielder he would also be the best passer and would raise the technical floor.
2. He is a better version of a profile we have 5 of already and while none are starting quality I wouldn’t say upgrading it is the first priority.
This captures Tonali for me, he is clearly better on the ball than our other midfielders while having an excellent engine.
He is not the profile we need and Bruno carries the load in midfield.
Tonali needs to be alongside a passer not instead of one.
