The biggest thing I struggle with in genealogy is trying to explain to friends and clients that research is filled with possibilities.
Most projects have a fixed structure but in the majority of genealogy cases you have no real idea where the investigation

Something I learnt at the office summer quiz last night is that many people do not know what colour a plane's black box is ..... clearly I've paid attention to AAIB reports unlike others.
Made me wonder if this comes from my family dynamic that included plane spotting when I was growing up? 🤔

Also, that quite often the evidence comes from a source that you would likely not have considered in the first 20 possible ideas of where to look.
For example, I found out more about a 2x Great Grandfather from a newspaper article about his death. Where had I been looking?
The area he was living when he died or the area he lived for years and where much of his family stayed.
No it turns out he was well respected as the newspaper was from where he'd lived for a period but had left about 20 years before taking all his children with him after his wife had died.

Very sad news from the brewing world. Rob was a legend in many ways and alongside Martin Kemp when they founded the Pitfield Brewery back in the 1980s and won Champion Beer of Britain with Dark Star. RIP.
