Worth considering to what degree it is a coincidence that the worst takes in the UK Labour Party are coming from men who are 'performing their masculinity'.
E.g. Carns and his 'real Labour means real men doing real jobs'; Glasman and his 'reclaim the rainbow from the ownership of the transsexuals'.
The far right has been the exception to this pattern: it has been largely ostracised. (Online media incl YouTube has allowed far right actors to work around this restriction.)
But the mainstream right has harboured Islamophobic, homophobic & anti-immigrant views for decades with minimal pushback.
