Incredibly exciting news, one of our newly returned 2-year old Ospreys, male 5R0 has just briefly landed on a harbour nest platform with Scottish ringed female 6J8, a 2024 female from the Tweed Valley & was recently seen in the Usk Valley

This is just such terrible, sad news. Why would anyone want to hurt these beautiful birds, people amaze me for all the wrong reasons! Heartbroken doesn’t even come close 😢
DNA samples were taken of the 4 Poole Peregrine chicks at the time of ringing. Samples are known as buccal swabs, akin to a saliva swab. These will be sent to the Raptor Forensic DNA Project based in Edinburgh and used to assist possible persecution/theft cases.
