All gifs get reencoded by the media backend so even the 10mb gifs should come out to around 800kb or less
The appview doesn’t return a specific cdn so people are welcome to swap it out easily too if the encoding sucks
atproto has way too many ideas for apps, what i think would really be groundbreaking is a couple more blueskys
sometimes it feels like the atproto spec documents are just wishful thinking and not how it was actually implemented 99% of the time
