But it is seriously concerning that at least some of these people DID or DO believe that and still continue to relentlessly pursue it. Sam Altman has recently come out and said that AI won't cause a "jobs apocalypse" but it really feels like there's a loud, unspoken "for now" attached to that. 2/2

I'm not even joking. Sam Altman did literally say "I think AI will probably, most likely, sort of lead to the end of the world. But in the meantime, there will be great companies created with serious machine learning."
Now, I don't personally believe AI will actually cause the end of the world. 1/2
