Tonight is the men‘s ice hockey world championship finale, where Finland is playing Switzerland. I’m in Finland right now so my task for the day is to figure out the rules of that game

Fritz Güntzler (finanzpol. Sprecher Union) hat vorhin im DLF im Interview zum Ehegattensplitting gesagt er glaubt den wissenschaftlichen Studien nicht, die zeigen dass die gemeinsame Besteuerung das Einkommen von Frauen reduziert. Ja juht, so wird das nichts mit evidenzbasierter Finanzpolitik.

I’m 33 and I have a PhD and yesterday I asked my parents on FaceTime what the different symbols mean on a dryer and how to use it.
(Turned out my parents didn’t know either so we agreed the dryer was weird and I ended up drying cloths in my hotel room)
I’m visiting FIT (Finnish centre of excellence in tax systems research) at University of Tampere for two weeks and not only am I having a great time here so far, but it also feels very fitting to do a research stay in the 2026 European capital of smart tourism 🇫🇮
