I’m 33 and I have a PhD and yesterday I asked my parents on FaceTime what the different symbols mean on a dryer and how to use it.
(Turned out my parents didn’t know either so we agreed the dryer was weird and I ended up drying cloths in my hotel room)
Fritz Güntzler (finanzpol. Sprecher Union) hat vorhin im DLF im Interview zum Ehegattensplitting gesagt er glaubt den wissenschaftlichen Studien nicht, die zeigen dass die gemeinsame Besteuerung das Einkommen von Frauen reduziert. Ja juht, so wird das nichts mit evidenzbasierter Finanzpolitik.

Und er freue sich über kluge Ratschläge von Ökonomen, aber der aktuelle Vorschlag decke sich nicht mit seinem Gesellschaftsbild.
Sorry to break it to you aber (ökonomische) Forschung ist nicht da um das Gesellschaftsbild der Regierungspartei zu bestätigen.

I’m visiting FIT (Finnish centre of excellence in tax systems research) at University of Tampere for two weeks and not only am I having a great time here so far, but it also feels very fitting to do a research stay in the 2026 European capital of smart tourism 🇫🇮
Tonight is the men‘s ice hockey world championship finale, where Finland is playing Switzerland. I’m in Finland right now so my task for the day is to figure out the rules of that game

After having watched one third: it’s perfectly fine to watch with zero rule knowledge (@zetaof1.bsky.social) and maybe the depiction of players in heated rivalry does not exactly match reality 1:1 (@o.simardcasanova.net)
Has someone done sth like the Big Mac index but for IKEA? Couldn’t believe how expensive an IVAR combination (the cheapest and probably most iconic IKEA shelf) is and turns out it’s 50% more expensive in Norway than in Germany???
