Reminder: We have a Bluesky Starter Pack of researchers working in cyanobacteria. If you would like to be included, respond to this message. Please repost to spread the news.
There indeed is a lot of papers on microbial defense/anti-defense systems coming out that were run under conditions that are so foreign that they leave you wondering if that's really how they work. We do need to test these systems more! 🧪🦠🔬
And they're still increasing their emissions. This is absolutely insane. 🧪 www.theguardian.com/environment/...
www.bbc.com/news/article... 🧪 Wow, so now we're "deforesting to save the climate"? And they have the nerve to call it "Liberty Avenue"? This is unbelievable.
Very interesting review estimating that cyanobacteria were already prepared for aerobic metabolism before oxygenating the global atmosphere! 🦠🌍💨🧪
lu.varbi.com/en/what:job/... An open PhD position at Lund! on microbial control of soil C, involved with N and P! 🤩🤩🤩 Can highly recommend!
I had a lot of fun helping to organize VOLT's annual retreat. Great science, fun workshops and interesting talks. I'm so happy my escape rooms worked so well! And karaoke was insane! Thank you, @voltcenter.bsky.social! It was really amazing! 🧪
Does climate change have any lasting effects? Well, it depends on the species. In our new article, we show that temperature and moisture drive persistent shifts in N-fixing communities associated with subarctic mosses. Check it out in the latest GCB: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... 🧪
Using #cyanobacteria in #architecture to build structures that produce oxygen and sequester carbon in urban environments? That's an amazing concept! www.archdaily.com/1030729/desi... 🦠🧪🌍
