How it started.... how it's going
Did a spot of plastering today @richardjbutler.bsky.social @simonwills.bsky.social @pimkaskes.bsky.social
As always there were a lot of cultural experiences along the way, including couscous Friday, unique approaches to transporting livestock, our first meal of sheep brains & liver, and the inevitable speeding fines. Morocco is an amazing country. If you haven't visited you really should.
We're back in Morocco for more fun in the Middle Jurassic. There's been a lot of digging since we were last here: a lot of specimens lost to science and Morocco. But we are still optimistic about finding some amazing new dinos @richardjbutler.bsky.social
A successful final day of the Morocco fieldwork full of documenting and prepping the finds, thanks to the wonderful collaboration with USMBA in Fes!
Some proper coastal fieldwork on the UK Dinosaur Isle this week studying the fossil rich sediments of the Wessex formation! Thanks to Gary Nichols, @tweetisaurus.bsky.social @valdosaurus.bsky.social and the lovely staff at the Dinosaur Isle Museum in Sandown for the collaboration and hospitality 🦖!
Our team this year includes Kawtar Ech-charay, Khadija Boumir, Driss Ouarhache, @simonwills.bsky.social and @pimkaskes.bsky.social
Thanks to @eageo.bsky.social to grant me an Early Career Science Ambassadorship 🙏. This allowed me to travel to the 2025 Annual Meeting of @geosociety.bsky.social in San Antonio, see my blogpost below in which I share my experiences, including a great fieldtrip to the K-Pg boundary in Texas ☄️🌊.
An enforced break for us today because heavy rain is preventing us from getting into the quarry. We've got some nice material out over the past few days
🇲🇦 Wrapping up a great fieldwork in Morocco including digging up Middle Jurassic dinosaurs 🦕 & attending a meeting on the protection of the regional geoheritage & a Middle Atlas Geoparc initiative @nhm-london.bsky.social @tweetisaurus.bsky.social @richardjbutler.bsky.social @simonwills.bsky.social

Last day in Morocco for Team 2026. I was presented with this commemorative plaque by the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at USMBA to celebrate our ongoing collaboration, and we had a nice dinner together in Fes. We will be back next year!

A windy and wild couple of days on the Isle of Wight for @pimkaskes.bsky.social and me, catching up with friends and collecting some sediment samples. Thanks for the hospitality @valdosaurus.bsky.social!
