Edinburgh Council have informed us they have closed the Walkway at Kinauld Tan Works Footbridge (Approx. Location: w3w.co/minute.guise...) as a hole has appeared in the bridge. There is no through route over this bridge in either direction .
It will be closed all weekend diversion via lanark rd,
A morning on the Cockburn/upper reaches of the Water of Leith on the search for invasive species.
Several stands of Japanese knotweed and Himalayan balsam found. More work ahead to stop these seed sources.

Amazing job by the latest group from Balerno HS, this time S2&3, who braved the rain today to help remove litter from around the school and surrounding streets, from Malleny Park car park, and from the WoL walkway, preventing 7 bags of rubbish from entering the river. Legends๐๐ช

A very productive session around Waulkmill Loan today trimming back vegetation to widen the path, litter picking, refreshing drainage ditches, and wading the river to treat invasives and pull out rubbish. Great effort by everyone involved, thanks folks! ๐

Just over two more weeks of schools outdoor learning before the holidays. The classroom will have seen almost 40 classes pass through as they connect to their local river and woodlands.
