Really excited to see the first publication of my PhD out now in @angewandtechemie.bsky.social!
Great to be a part of this paper with @maxdietz.bsky.social and @josefboronski.bsky.social investigating some exciting tin chemistry.
The Aldridge group had an amazing time at @eucomc2025.bsky.social. A great selection of talks and some exciting poster discussions!
@maxdietz.bsky.social gave a talk, and the rest of the group presented posters.
We report the first stable hexavalent nickel complex! It's formed by reductive addition of three Be-Be bonds at nickel(0), producing Ni(BeCp)6

I am happy to share that our latest paper has been published in @science.org. In this work, we report the synthesis of novel tin carbonyl and carbene complexes. Thanks to all collaborators!

From @maxdietz.bsky.social and Simon Aldridge’s group, an example of a main-group tin-carbonyl complex (@science.org).
Above 0 degrees Celsius, this CO complex rearranges to form a tin carbene complex.

High-valent nickel species are implicated as intermediates in industrially relevant chemical transformations and in the catalytic cycles of metalloenzymes. Although a small number of tetravalent NiX4 ...
In contrast to transition elements, s- and p-block metal compounds that coordinate carbon monoxide (CO) under near-ambient conditions are elusive. Here, we report an isolable, crystalline main-group m...
Breaking bonds at tin(II)! We've had a look at the spectrum of bond addition reactions, from reductive (Be-Be) to oxidative (Cl-Cl), and everything in between (B-B, B-H, H-H)

Here, the addition of H–H, Be–Be, B–B, and B–H bonds to SnII is studied by experimental and theoretical means. We report the first examples of B–B and Be–Be bond additions to a main group metal centr...
