I have since quit that studio - in part because I wanted to work with Godot. The foundations are being built for the future, and I anticipate exponential growth once they're here. Get ready for the takeover, @unity.com
While it's true porting the codebase, look & feel and art would be challenging, the real trouble lied with third party SDKs. Godot didn't have feature parity on Ad delivery, IAPs, and cloud integrations.
We ended up seeing if we could feasibly port our #unity mobile games to #godot, without the users noticing a big hiccup. After some prototyping, the answer was "No" - but not for the reasons you might think;
First, we discussed whether this was the end of our company. Then we thought more practically; can we block Unity's telemetry?
