This year's competition judges are award-winning novelist Sarah Moss, literary agent at Greene & Heaton Literary Agency Imogen Morrell, and lecturer and critic Cat Mitchell.
The winner receives £5,000! Plus, the winner and three finalists will also receive manuscript feedback from The Literary Consultancy, and pitch training and personal introductions to editors and agents in partnership with New Writing North.
Our 2026 Novel Competition is ✨ OPEN ✨ for entries!
The competition is for novels of at least 50,000 words in any genre for adults or young adults.
Submit the first 5,000 words in the first instance. Longlisted entrants will submit the full novel later in the judging process.
