Teneral Physocephala rufipes ♂ found today on flowerbed wall in Bengeo garden, fascinating then to watch it change to its full adult colour over next hour.
P.rufipes is most wasp-like of conopid parasitoid flies. @flygirlnhm.bsky.social
One of our more spectacular soldierflies, increasingly being seen at inland locations

Tree Snipefly (Chrysopilus laetus) new to Yorkshire at garden centre in Shiptonthorpe VC61 . Seen 11 days ago but no pot with me...thankfully still on same apple tree today! Maybe garden centres explain the spread north? @uk-soldierflies.bsky.social @dipteristsforum.bsky.social @ynuorg.bsky.social

I wonder if any dipterists could help
I believe that this is Stratiomys longicornis, but this species is supposedly from brackish waters
This is in inland south Norfolk near a pond
