Officially opens to the public appropriately on Juneteenth. 🇺🇸
On June 19th, 1865, federal forces arrived in Texas and finally announced that all enslaved people in Texas were now free.
Today, we are STILL fighting for equal representation for all Texans as our rights are under attack through racial gerrymandering and restrictions on voting rights. #Juneteenth

Juneteenth marks the celebration of America's second independence day.
Like the people in this photo—Texans celebrating Juneteenth in 1900—we know that progress hasn't made our union perfect. But we can recommit to reaching toward that more perfect union together.
Happy Juneteenth.
