I'll gladly be wrong when literally nothing else I've ever seen, even in Japanese, acknowledges an official Gatchaman manga.
It is amusing that the first time the Captain Tsubasa: World Youth 90s sequel manga's story ever saw official English release... It's via a video game adaptation.
Really, the best way to know if a version of Gatchaman is truly accurate to the original is a rather simple one:
Joe the Condor needs to be absolutely & utterly obsessed with firing Bird Missiles.
Literally just 7 pages into the bonus Issue #0 that starts Vol 1 I knew that Mad Cave loves Gatchaman
The comic also adds in a new crew, the Beta Team, who are training to be the new Science Ninja Team in a worst case scenario, and they get to shine in Issue #4 when they help Jun out in saving the scientists.
I fully expect Galactor to turn the Beta Team bad later on. The comic isn't exactly stuble
I am inherently untrusting of anyone who cannot abide by this. Trying to mold every big TV anime production into film level quality has just created more problems in production pipelines that were already troubled

Read your mangaka's favorite mangaka/manga and find other titles from that era. It's a fun way to travel back into your manga maker's childhood and learn a bit more about Japanese history, via a personal pathway.

In honor of the new/old Tatsunoko anime that are getting added to Hidive this month I'm finally going to read the Gatchaman comics from Mad Cave that I own so far!
Shockingly enough, there had never been an official Gatchaman comic (manga or otherwise) until Mad Cave started their run.

Finished reading Volume 1 today, which covers Issues 1-5, & it's already a very solid series that knows exactly what Gatchaman is. A good storyline that climaxes with Jun the Swan needing to infiltrate a Galactor base to rescue scientists, while the others are busy dealing with a giant Galactor mech
