It was an honour working on this project over the past years. As always, learned a lot about how economist think and approach subjects. Refreshing. Good to know that sociological perspectives are equally needed. Thx to EEP!
Gradually, the play of the American administration is becoming clear. The Greenland strategy is only meant to break up the European Union. The support for the radical right was a first step to do this. The flip-flop on Ukraine fits this strategy. And now Greenland. More EU is desperately needed.
The Russians have the example to try to get Zelensky. The Chinese can do the same with the Taiwanese officials. The Americans talk about the law, but think it does not apply to them. And what has it changed for Venezuela? Another dictator will take there place of Maduro.
Does the EU have baby leverage in discussions with the US? Maybe the EU should oblige European pension funds to disinvest from the US stock markets? Drop Blackrock and other such institutions in coordinating EU funds? That may help.
The Dutch and the US have working for years on stopping drug boats coming from Venezuela. Thousands of kilos of drugs have been intercepted by the Dutch authorities. The persons apprehended by the Dutch were delivered to the Americans for justice. -/--
Have the American policymakers gone totally mad? Capturing an active president, how illegal this president may be, is totally unacceptable. The precedent is sets, is unbelievable. For the same reasons, the Canadian prime minister can be kidnapped. -/--
-/-- The current US administration has decided that collaboration with the Dutch is no longer needed and that bombing the boats is a better solution. How absurd can you get? Prime time television is preferred for 'normal' justice and sentencing.
