OpenAI is considering drastic price cuts to compete with Anthropic. OpenAI cannot under any circumstances afford this pay cut. This is fundamentally insane. www.wsj.com/tech/ai/open...
Some of y’all are out here so traumatized by Twitter and Meta that you can no longer recognize a company operating in good faith.
I really do not understand the immediate pile-on and immediate dismissal of Ellipsus for this. But y’know never miss an opportunity to feel aggrieved and righteously indignant, I guess?
It’s a legitimate attempt to address the concerns of their userbase, though. Y’know, a thing we *want* companies to do?
But you do not have to enable it. And lbr, Ellipsus is not a platform corporations are using yet, so no employer is gonna force you to. If some agitated reader demands “Use this to prove your work isn’t AI!” and you don’t want to, then say “Fuck you” and don’t.
::extremely heavy sigh:: Y'know...
They’re trying to give authors a feature to combat unfair accusations of using AI, because iirc nearly half the respondents in their survey expressed that concern. Is it imperfect? Probably. I haven’t tried it yet (and neither have the people already screaming about it).
I feel like a lot of the people getting their pitchforks and torches ready over Ellipsus+’s Emboss feature missed the part where it’s opt-in.
