The funniest thing is that when I was in law school (early 2000s) the prevailing unquestioned wisdom was that conservatives were judicial minimalists.

Yup. One of the biggest mental shifts that American professionals (i.e. doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc) need to make is that they have much more in common in 2026 with hourly wage workers than with CEOs.
You either do the work or you collect the profits. They don’t let you do both anymore.
