I don't think people fully appreciate how apocalyptic things are for US science. I haven't had any new funding since 2024, but I'm still ok since typical grants are for three years. This means next year I will be completely out of funding and will have to fire everyone in the lab. It's not great.
"The third No Kings protests were an unmistakable display of political force..." "Two-thirds of participants live in suburban, small town or rural areas, a 40% increase over last time in protesters from outside big cities..." www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

A great idea for those of use that can’t physically march.
It is deeply stupid that this is happening. Not to mention entirely avoidable.

Uuuhhh is it normal for the NSF Social Psychology grant not to have a deadline listed? I'm still new to the ins and outs of grant apps so this could be totally normal--it's just hard to know with *waves hands vaguely in all directions*. www.nsf.gov/funding/oppo...

Academics and technologists are sounding the alarm about a growing crisis in scholarship as we know it: AI-generated citations of nonexistent papers that have infested real journals. Despite being fake, the sources are widely assumed to be authentic the more they appear in published literature.

Academic articles from authors using large language model are creating an ecosystem of fake research that threatens human knowledge itself.
