I’d forgotten (as I haven’t seen it since it was in theaters) how utterly devoid of ham Daniel Day-Lewis’s Lincoln is. You’d think that actor-role combination would result in the showiest Oscar performance ever but in fact he’s incredibly restrained, the straight man in more than half of his scenes.
