@chrisberube.bsky.social deserves his own thank-you post in this thread for his humour, his yes-and'ing of my ideas, his patience, and his ability to give me direction all the times i felt very lost. i hope he had as great of a time nerding out with me about CanCon for six months as i did with him.
i've been working away at this episode with every free moment i had outside of my full-time job(!) since January (September, if you count writing the pitch). putting it together was fun, enlightening, and (as mentioned yesterday) it rekindled my relationship with producing and reporting.
beyond excited to share this week's episode of @99pi.org, which was co-produced by me! it's a story about how, once upon a time, the government of Canada stepped in to help out Canada's struggling music industry. and it worked! ...kind of. for some people.

Rollie Pemberton (a.k.a. Cadence Weapon) released a book last month that's all about listening to music with intention, and breaking away from the music churn we tend to get into with music streaming. i'm 1/4 of the way through, it's fantastic. you should read it. tinyurl.com/4h5yd795

some cool things we didn't get to talk about in the episode: Jeremy Dutcher mentions that there are less than 500 fluent speakers of Wolastoqey left in the world. there is now a Wolastoqey language immersion school! more here: www.kehkimin.org
Canada reshaped its music industry with a quirky radio rule that changed who got heard 🇨🇦
