How the heck do senior NZTA staff not know that they have decided to no longer proactively release NZTA board minutes? Like WHAT????
Really good question from Andy Foster on what NZTA is saying should be done with the new crossing, if there are going to be disruptive renewals. NZTA really didn't answer on a new crossing timeframe (tunnels the preference will take YONKS) sooooo yeahhhh guess there is no rush?
I love when NZTA says that Warkworth to Te Hana should be four laned because of traffic growth This is the level of traffic growth needed to justify it under the 2019 business case (extremely heroic assumptions) And this would lead to 6 total lanes between Te Hana and Warkworth
There are arterial roads in Auckland that have more traffic than this part of State Highway 1
Love how NZTA says we need a new big fuck off tunnel as the new harbour crossing because the current Auckland Harbour Bridge needs significant maintenance, then proceeds to say we are going to do nothing to reduce stress on the current bridge to extend its life???
Heres Auckland Councils high level assessment of Warkworth to Te Hana against strategic outcomes from a couple of years ago. Notice how WW2TH is very very red under 'Quality Compact Growth' Almost like Council DOESN'T WANT GROWTH IN GREENFIELDS like Wellsford????
Anyways long history of NZTA wanting to build a big fuck off tunnel www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2026/05/26/g...
Here’s @connorsharp.bsky.social speaking to Nadine Higgins on NZ Herald’s Ryan Bridge Today. Connor lays out why we’re calling on the government (and all parties) to pause before rushing to sign New Zealand up to a $12bn longterm payment plan for 26km of expressway: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxPT...
Great work by Thomas Manch getting insight into the Warkworth to Te Hana Crown Loan numbers. Loan looks to be $1-1.5 billion. If you take $1.5 billion off a $4b price and have the rest as a PPP ($2.5b x3), you end up with a total cost to the public of $9billion businessdesk.co.nz/article/infr...
