Part Four of our review of the 1966/67 season features in this week’s edition of The Saint matchday programme and, just after, on the History St Pat’s Patreon. A close look at our wavering League campaign and our path to a historic FAI Cup Final. 🔴⚪️
In the early hours of Saturday morning, Kian Leavy made history by making his Ireland senior debut. How about this for a stat though…
Kian Leavy is only the second ever Pat’s player to have played for Ireland not to have been a team-mate of Dinny Lowry.
(1/2)
Although their appearances spanned ~20 years, five others - Shay Gibbons, Tommy Dunne, Ronnie Whelan Snr, Jackie Hennessy & Noel Campbell - all played with Lowry.
Other than Kian, the only other Saint to have played for Ireland not to have been a team-mate of Dinny Lowry was…Dinny Lowry. 🔴⚪️🇮🇪
We think Kian Leavy is the first Pat’s player in a men’s senior international squad in 55 years.
The last Pat’s player to get a men’s senior cap was Noel Campbell in 1971.
5 other men have won a senior cap while at Pat’s: Shay Gibbons, Tommy Dunne, Dinny Lowry, Ronnie Whelan Snr & Jackie Hennessy
