Lol not me griping about the construction noise outside only to realize it was a sidewalk repair I requested.
I remember like a decade ago asking someone Council side if we have civil Gideon (right to counsel for low income individuals in civil cases) and being assured we did. We don’t. What we have is access to justice funding that the Mayor slashes each year and the Council restores. …
And the restoration is good but still wildly underfunded to meet need. Just google access to justice gap, which literally never improves.
Thanks to @stonewalldems51.bsky.social for tonight’s Rank My Drag event. PussyNoir was my number one pick and Judy from HR was my second. I’m so glad my second choice won! Don’t forget to vote in DC’s Primary Election, where we have Ranked Choice Voting, by June 16.
They lived in #TrinidadDC, on the 1100 block of Neal Street, and there ought to be a historical marker!
Listen it’s good the DC Council works to restore funding for some social services. But this is an every year thing. The posts about this are the posts we saw last year and the year before and the year before that. It’s time for a different framework that isn’t fighting for scraps.
