NEW: Jeffery Epstein continued to exploit women and associate with the rich and famous during his time in jail, an NBC News investigation shows.
A SECOND person died of exposure last winter after DHS dumped them in the middle of nowhere, miles from their home, without notifying their family.
An NBC News investigation shows that Epstein’s first stint in jail was hardly an interruption. Even behind bars, he continued associating with the rich and famous and supporting his lavish lifestyle.

The problem with Brandon Gill is not that he "seems like a closet case" or "protests too much." The problem with Brandon Gill is that he is a vicious bigot--the son-in-law of Dinesh D'Souza!--and as the youngest GOP rep, the embodiment of the morally vacant future of a rock-bottom political party.
Josh Marshall is gonna keep TPM's eye on these developments in Ohio, where Trump's FBI is doing what it can to subvert free elections by intimidating voter mobilization organizations.

I want to highlight for psychiatric clinicians some lines from Trump’s failed emergency motion to the DC Circuit seeking to keep his name on the Kennedy Center.
“The name ‘Kennedy’ is still on the Building, but in a much stronger form,” Trump writes. (That is, below his.)

One of the things about the legal profession is that they've historically been extremely hesitant to discipline attorneys, with two areas of exception: false filings in the court and defrauding clients. That needs to change, because this stuff is ridiculous.
Bunch of Trump phrases in this. "... in a much stronger form." "...physically beautiful enterprise..." This is a deeply stupid piece of legal writing, which is about standard for the administration.
"Of the 45 citations in the report, only five accurately point to real sources," the team wrote, adding that many others were either totally false or significantly distorted.

i've already made similar sounds to liam about this, but one other thing: the report notably does not reckon at all with the sort of work in philosophy that meets its abstract description of the Problematic Scholarly Tendencies, but is widely (though controversially) considered to be high quality

Yup. Totally agree. ICE polls at like -30, and the only people who support it are already dyed-in-the-sackcloth Trumpers who will never vote for a Democrat anyway. This is a soft lob, and there's no upside to watching it go by.

REP. BRANDON GILL: This is a much more effeminate version of Beto O'Rourke ... this is somebody who is really obsessed with children ... I think of James Talarico as a barely straight version of Pete Buttigieg
KAYLEIGH McENANY: We know Talarico has a longtime girlfriend and she's very beautiful
Here the DOJ’s civil chief (the only signatory to the motion) lets Trump mislead the DC Cir about what Judge Cooper’s order does. In reality, Cooper allowed repairs to go forward & if, after a proper inquiry, the trustees find they need to, they can still close the center during the process.

some very trump-style use of commas and capitalization here

even from a purely realist perspective, ambitious politicians should be trying to outdo each other on prosecuting ICE and the like. life pitching this one at you underhand
Since life is keeping me busy I don't have time to do much writing and what not now, so just to keep my blog active I fired off a quick post about the latest report on the humanities.

The Kennedy Center board has filed an emergency motion to stay at the DC Circuit and it is bonkity-bonkers.
For the first time, they say they amended the bylaws to strip all funding from the center if it removes Trump's name.
No Trump KC, no money.

And there it is. Judge Cooper denies the Kennedy Center's request to stay his order taking Trump's name off the building.
Let the chiseling begin!
