Lights, camera, Postgres! 🎬 Behind every 25-minute tech talk is a lot of coffee, a few retakes, and a very quiet house. Recording my POSETTE: An Event for Postgres talk was a great reminder of why I love this community.

Ever had your own laptop gaslight you? 😅 Usually, my daily puzzles involve tuning #PostgreSQL, but today’s challenge was brought to you by hotel WiFi at PGConf.dev 🐘. Me: "I'm just going to quickly connect to the hotel WiFi to check emails." My Linux Laptop: "Absolutely not." 🔽

After some digging, I found the culprit. It turns out a local Docker bridge on my machine had claimed the exact same 172.20.x.x subnet as the hotel. My laptop wasn't talking to the hotel router, but to itself in a virtual loop!

The captive portal refuses to load. No internet. I open the terminal and ping the router (172.20.0.1). Some of you may already be having second thoughts... ;-) The response time? 0.052 ms. Really?! Even though I love Canada🇨🇦, I won't believe any hotel lobby router is able to respond in 50 ms.
One `sudo ip link delete` later, the portal loaded instantly. Choosing #Docker's default subnet for a public hotel WiFi is a personal attack on every developer in the building. Just... why? Because you can? :-D
There is a bad and a good being the first. Bad - you're the first, good - you're done early #speaking #pgdaynordic
Some details from the backstage. People helping out Cornelia Biacsics, Linda Leste, Isaac Alves. On the desk photo of Denys Holub and gifts from Volodymyr Katarovskyi, Josef Machytka, Elviie Abdulmennanova and Eugene Kuchansky. A complete set of magical items to attract good luck! 🔮💓

We’re talking all about "pgcov: Bringing Real Test Coverage to PostgreSQL Code" this year. Hope to see you all in the chat during the event! posetteconf.com/2026/talks/p...
Two PGDay conferences. Two cities. One week. 🐘 I went from Helsinki to Paris in 48 hours and captured everything on camera…including a special cameo from Svitlana Lytvynenko. 👀 Episode 2 of the CYBERTEC Conference Vlog series is live! Read all about it: www.cybertec-postgresql.com/en/nordic-co...
I’m excited to share that pgxmock v5.1.0 has officially been released! If you are using pgx for PostgreSQL in Go, this library remains one of the best ways to build robust unit tests without needing a live database. github.com/pashagolub/p... #Golang #PostgreSQL #UnitTesting #OpenSource
