The Last Shield by Cameron Johnston. Briar is a warrior at midlife, seriously injured and questioning everything - and the story that unfolds is one of the most honest portrayals of acceptance and resilience I have read in a long time. Exactly the kind of book the Wise Woman shelf was made for. 4 ⭐️

Had the most wonderful time at Borders Book Festival on Saturday with Ann Landmann and RM Brown. Was absolutely gobsmacked with the turnout for our panel - we almost sold out! And managed to walk past Sam Heughan without swooning 😍😂
A rich and immersive debut Scottish fantasy, The Shipwright and the Shroudweaver by Rafael Torrubia, is a fine addition to the genre from @gollancz.bsky.social #BFSReview britishfantasysociety.org/review/the-s...

There have been a lot of counter-racism protests in the UK that demonstrate just what a vocal minority the right are. Not sure if they’ll get the same breathless news coverage…
If you have read Daughters of Nicnevin, please consider leaving a review, especially on goodreads or the bad river. It really does help with visibility
Watching Scream 7 and it’s an absolute joy so far. I’m typically pretty fussy about horror movies, but this franchise hasn’t let me down yet
