I grew up in Southeast Texas, which is this unique Texas-Louisiana cultural mix.
Houston is more or less the transition zone. East of the metro area you are deep in Cajun country, while west of it begins the more familiar Texas, where Southwestern cultural and culinary influences start to dominate.
