#ttrpg Combat is fun when it presents you with a variety of interesting and dramatic choices to make moment to moment. It's why I enjoy both crunchy, tactical, 4e style games, as well as stuff like World of Dungeons, which is basically a stripped down pbta with a couple abilities...

the secret about adventure writing is that it is, imo, maybe even more technical than writing rules or classes. a ttrpg adventure product is not a narrative, it's an instruction manual walking the reader through GMing a session the way the author might, in accordance with the author's sensibilities
